Inspiration & Style
I am a singer-songwriter with an Indie Folk-Pop style. My music blends rhythmic guitar with heartfelt lyrics and fluttery flights of fancy on flute. My inspiration is drawn from the lush beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains I call home; and the soothing sounds of the 70s music from my childhood.
Growing up, our home was always filled with music on the stereo and friends and family singing along joyously. My mother deeply believed in the power of music. She and my father bought me a flute and put me in the elementary school music program. I later played first chair in the high school concert band, performed in the jazz ensemble and was inducted into the Modern Music Masters Honors Society. Inspired by both my father's and my uncle's interest in learning to play guitar, I also took on the instrument. Self-taught, I learned on my dad's Alvarez Regent and soon bought my own acoustic and electric guitars.
I was always writing songs in my youth, but began to take a more serious Singer-Songwriter stance in the fall of 2010. I have released a single, entitled "My Blue Jean Serenade," from my upcoming New Album due out in the Spring of 2020. In addition to making Indie Folk-Pop music, I also perform live as a jazz vocalist with Michael John Jazz; and I produce ambient music with The Tao Flow.
